The 21st edition of the world’s most extreme urban downhill race crowned Czech rider Tomáš Slavík as the “King of the Port,” after he completed his run with an unbeatable time of 2:18.828 minutes.
Valparaíso, Chile – This Sunday, Valparaíso was once again filled with color and adrenaline as it hosted the world’s largest urban downhill race—Red Bull Valparaíso Cerro Abajo. In its 21st edition, the event saw Czech rider Tomáš Slavík claiming his fourth title and therefore cementing his reign as the new “King of the Port.”
Here’s what you need to know:
– Slavík returned to this year’s race with a clear goal: to get redemption after last year’s unfortunate mechanical failure, when his bike chain snapped just seconds into his run. Not only did he achieve that goal with a blistering time of 2:18.828 minutes—reaching speeds of over 54 km/h—but he also made history by becoming one of the most celebrated riders in the competition’s history. With victories in 2017, 2018, 2023 and 2025, he now shares the record for most wins together with Chile’s Antonio Leiva and Slovakia’s Filip Polc.
– “I must admit, the day wasn’t perfect. I faced some technical issues and made mistakes during the qualifiers, but in the final, I managed to put together a perfect run. I had to take some sections a bit slower to be more careful in the corners—normally my strong point—but in the end, I managed the race well, and I’m happy with the result,” Slavík said after his victory.
– The Chilean rider Felipe Agurto secured second place, with roaring support from the home crowd throughout the weekend. The Curacaví native came within fractions of a second of claiming the top spot, just as he did last year. Despite missing out on first place, Agurto was satisfied with his performance and vowed to train even harder for Red Bull Guanajuato Cerro Abajo.
– Following today’s race, the riders will take a well-deserved break before gearing up to conclude the global Red Bull Cerro Abajo series on March 29th at Red Bull Guanajuato Cerro Abajo in Mexico.
